EUROPE’S LARGEST INDOOR SCARE ATTRACTION
What exactly is a scare/haunted attraction?
In general terms, a scare attraction is a live action, horror themed maze designed to put you into the thick of the action in a very scary (but safe) environment. Imagine watching a horror movie with the monster stalking the group of friends, now, imagine you are in that scene with them, feeling what they feel, seeing what they see, this is what scare attractions are like. You will be walking through various themed sets and scenes with actors in full makeup and costumes interacting with you, lights flashing, smoke filling the air, music and sound effects ringing out etc.
I know this is a scare attraction but will it be scary?
Basically, yes! The very nature of this attraction is to scare you in a fun way. We want you to feel nervous about going into it, be terrified while you’re walking through it but at the end come out laughing and feel good about the fact you survived your journey into the unknown. We do have age restrictions in place and at various times of the day the “fear factor” is ramped down/up depending on the time you visit. I know there are lots of actors inside the attraction,
will they grab me?
No, the actors will interact with you, talk to you and even possibly accidentally touch you but at no time during your experience inside will anyone grab you or invade your personal space to point where it’s no longer a fun experience.
What kind of effects can I expect to encounter inside?
There are multiple effect elements that go into making the experience as immersive as possible. These include the use of various lighting rigs, smoke, water, air blasts, sounds and sensory deprivation. When all these things come together they create a truly amazing effect which makes you believe you are actually inside a very strange world.
How long does the attraction last for?
From start to finish the actual experience inside the attraction will last approximately 20 minutes but the time you spend with us can be as long as you like. We have a café area and seating area for you to relax in either before or after your attraction time slot as well as the Magna attraction itself (available to experience when purchasing a combined ticket option, please see the Magna website for full details) so you can stay as long as you want to.
Can I leave the attraction half way through if I am too scared to carry on?
There are several points in the attraction that would allow you to leave the action. If you felt unable to carry on then you should make one of the actors aware of this and they will escort you to the nearest exit point but we highly recommend you finish the journey and experience everything we have to throw at you.
Why do I need to choose a time to enter Hybrid X?
During the booking process you will be asked which time slot you prefer. We do this to ensure your queuing time to enter the experience is kept to an absolute minimum and so you also don’t have to arrive hours before you’re due to go in. There are 3 time slots available to choose from, these are as follows: 10am to12pm, 12pm to 4pm and 4pm to 8pm. Upon completing the booking process you will be emailed an E-ticket which can be printed at home and brought along on the day you visit. This ticket will inform you of the date/time slot chosen at the booking stage and is used as your proof of purchase. A week before the event starts a member of the Magna team will be in contact with you to give you an accurate time slot for you to go through the attraction. For example, if you chose a time bracket of 4pm to 8pm we will email you a more detailed 30 minute slot; say between 4:30pm and 5pm. This is the time you will be going through Hybrid X. If this time slot is not good for you then you can call and alter it to fit in with your other commitments.
If I am late for my time slot can I still enter?
If you miss your time slot then it may still be possible to enter the attraction BUT you may have to queue until a slot becomes available. Also, if you are in a group of 3 or 4 friends we may not be able to send you all through together so we really recommend you arrive in plenty of time.
How many go through the scare attraction at once?
We stick to a group size of a maximum of 15 people to ensure you get the most from the attraction.
Is there parking facilities?
The location has 500 free parking spaces so this should not be a problem for you.
What other facilities are available?
The Magna Science Adventure Centre is a multilevel, immersive attraction experience taking you through the 4 natural elements, earth, wind, fire and water. Each zone has many interactive exhibits, games and displays as well as spectacular effects like the fire tornado. There are also other attractions within the building such as the Age of Steel effects show and a gift shop. The Magna centre is also equipped with several café areas selling light snacks, nibbles and drinks. There are also multiple toilet facilities and areas to relax before/after the performance.
Is there access for wheelchair users in the attraction?
Hybrid X contains very narrow, claustrophobic corridors, areas with very limited space and various obstacles. On top of this the attraction features places with uneven flooring, tight corners and areas where you may have to crouch down so, unfortunately, wheelchair access is something we cannot accommodate. We apologise for this in advance.
Who should not attend the attraction?
Due to the extreme nature of the Hybrid X experience we recommend people under the age of 12 do not enter. However, if you are under the age of 12 and are with an adult over the age of 18 who is sure you will be OK then we would allow you to enter providing your adult guardian agreed to this. We also recommend people who have heart conditions, suffer from epilepsy or who are pregnant do not enter the attraction at all. At times you will be plunged into darkness, have to manoeuvre through confined spaces and be put into situations that some people would find distressing so, with this in mind, anyone who suffers from a nervous disposition should not enter the attraction but if you decide to you do so completely at your own risk.
What are the age restrictions?
The attraction is split into 2 distinct age ranges which alter the fear factor inside the attraction. These are as follows: 10am to 2pm – suitable for ages 7 years and up with a scare rating of 1 pumpkin 2pm to 4pm – Suitable for ages 12 years and up with a scare rating of 2 pumpkins 4pm to 8pm – Again suitable for ages 12 years and above but the scare rating is ramped up to 3 pumpkins for a more intense, scary experience.
On Saturday the 30th of October the attraction will operate as above between the hours of 10am to 8pm but after this time Hybrid X is transformed into a truly terrifying experience which is strictly for over 18’s. This creation will go on into the early hours of Halloween and is rated as a 5 out of 5 pumpkins for the scare factor. The performance is strictly for adults only, you have been warned!
